Ahva Ahva

I am here to express, to love and be loved, to heal and be healed. My entire journey has been on the Road to Wholeness. There I reclaim the fractured parts of my soul through the mirrors of those who are willing  to dance with me for a moment or more. I am a networker, lightworker and loveworker. Dancing in spirals I become aware that every being on this planet is dear to me and offers me up a part of myself forgotten, ignored, reviled, unwanted, cherished or otherwise unknown until that precious moment of rekindling. Let us lift each other up higher and higher, let us be met in stillness, in silliness, in silence, in holiness, in redemption and in celebration.

Ahva has been actively involved in community theater and education for over thirty years.  She currently resides in an old Denver neighborhood bungalow with her son Lennon, and canine pal, Lucy. She is flanked by her grown son Ry and his wife Debby, amazing daughter Niya, and a support team of Beloveds. She is a massage therapist, teaches dance at Studio Soma and is co-founder of Dancing Coyote Wilderness Sanctuary. She is the current dance administrator for Gypsie Nation Denver, and serves on the Gypsie Nation Global Counsel.

My Mayan Galactic Signature is the Blue Cosmic Monkey, the monkey statement is: “I Endure In Order to Play” I would say that is true and correct.  My Sun Sign is Taurus, Governed by Venus and Earth, makes me a lover of all things sensual and earthy – Music and Dance I believe fall into these categories.
My Spirit name Jasana Rapor /Sujana Rapor (means: One who attracted from the outside, who then becomes one who attracts from within).
Currently I walk my life’s path as Sujana, combining all the above ingredients to channel a recipe of love, healing, support, recognition and truth.

Along with the Great love for my Angel Daughter Mia Bella, is my love for Dance, Music and healing the denied aspects of myself.  Gypsie Nation: affords me a space, a safe container, to completely unravel and dance myself into a state of bliss and innocence!

Love guided me to Gypsie Nation where I have found freedom to completely sink into ecstatic dance. I find each dance experience a new journey of its own, starting with an intention and ending somewhere surprising and sweet. With a soul programmed to never cease seeking self-awareness I have discovered that movement is an integral part of my path to healing, opening to new energy, integrating change, transforming outdated beliefs, and being present in the moment. My mother gifted me deep spiritual connection and ritual within the confines of religious tradition. My father, in his atheism, gave me permission to question. The foundation of these polar perspectives was a launching pad for exploring and choosing my own spiritual path. For the past decade I have learned from many traditions, primarily shamanism.

I grew up on a ranch in Oregon, found my way to Colorado to finish college in Boulder and for the past 12 years have been working in the world of geographic information systems (digital mapping). I live in a 1924 bungalow in northwest Denver with my dog Bisbee. I'm a writer, mountain biker, snowboarder, hiker, handy woman, world traveler and dreamer. I believe in the equality of all, truth, choice, manifestation through intention, laughter as medicine, radiating love, grace as our birthright, and the power of kindness.

An education in science and engineering taught me the importance of rational thought but denied me the spiritual experience that I deeply craved most of my life.  Due to a personal disagreement with the premise of the Iraq War, I left the US Air Force in 2004 after serving eight years, including a tour of duty in the Middle East.  Afterwards, I began connecting with my own personal spiritual experience through playing the didgeridoo that has led me on an enlightening path ever since.  I believe it is important to regain a connection to the mysteries of the primal world that our modern communities have forgotten.  Gypsie Nation offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with a personal spiritual experience by reintroducing the primordial practice of ecstatic dance and communal ceremony.  I like the fact that it is free of dogmatic belief structures so that any person of any faith has access to all the spiritual treasures it possesses without feeling threatened by a differing belief system.  My goal is to spread my appreciation for the spiritual experience to others by supporting this movement and creating an open and free space to celebrate life and all of the wonderful mystery that pervades it.

I think my passion for music and dance was with me before my entry into this default world. My Dad's drumming resonated through the umbilical chord straight to my inner self via the vessel I call Mom. Through my journeys in Terra Firma, I found myself looking for my raison d'etre. I found that I kept going back to that primal urge that pulsed through me before I flowed into this world, and finally it stuck! Alternate Realms (translate as you wish), Music, Dance, my quest for Inner Peace, and my never ending curiosity led me to the banks of Gypsie Nation. And here I have set up camp, immersed in dance, music, family, and still curious as ever. Loving, living life into the next one, Peace.

I work  as a Decorative Painter I have my own company and most of my artwork is commisioned on client's walls. I am working at getting people to think differently about paint, another words it doesn't have to be toxic made of pva's and voc's but simple earth pigments, clay and lime!
I love to practice a type of yoga called Jivamukti  which includes chanting. I aspire to be a yoga teacher one day. I also desire to be taught to" hoola" hoop by my son Finnegan who naturally can do it!
At every point in my life I have pursued dance.  Sometimes in the comprehensive way of a dance troupe member: They include New England Patriots Cheerleader (almost another lifetime ago) Egyptian Temple, Aspen, African: Planetary Dance Ensemble: Carbondale. Modern Dance Choreographer at the Aspen Dance Connection and even a performance piece in an interactive water fountain.  I have performed in dozens and dozens of musical productions as a dancer and a singer. I taught an after school program called S.O.A.R. Students of the Performing Arts Residency which taught 7-12 year olds Drama, Music and Dance. More recently I was in a piece called Baku: Eater of Dreams with One Tribe Productions and with Sephiroth Dance at Earth Dance and the Dream Time festival.

I am so grateful to participate with this group and fly on the wings as it takes off. I too have a vision of dance being a way to heal myself and heal the planet. Upon waking recently I wrote these words:  I am not too old to Dance. I feel the desire to connect with how all life has moved and shook with the world. I share with you a jewish proverb that goes along with how I feel about Gypsie Nation and the most important element that gets on our feet: "Music Cleanses the "Soul of the Dust of Every Day Life" and "Love is the Only Passion that does not suffer a Past or a Future." - Honore De Balzac
