When community gathers and embraces free expression, a profound healing takes place.  A potent medicine is generated that flows from the veins of individuals, into local and global community, deep into the earth.

Through the Gypsie Nation dance rituals I witnessed how such healing is fostered through an invitation to surrender to the impulse to move.  The dance revealed itself to me as prayer, magic, play, mourning, awakening...Practiced within sacred space, with intention it became an opportunity for self-exploration and healing.  Shared with others, it also became a space for community building.

Just after my first Gypsie Nation ritual, I volunteered with the hopes of giving back to the dance.  My role as a volunteer has changed over time, yet whether sweeping the floor or serving as volunteer coordinator the essence of what it is to volunteer has never changed for me. 

Volunteering has been an extraordinary opportunity to serve my community, develop intimate connections, and honor the divine within and all around.  It has strengthened my commitment to the dance and become a part of my spiritual practice that welcomes inspiration and subsequent creation.
