I was ecstatic to find the Gypsie Nation Dance!! Here was, finally, a dance that was groovy and sacred and transformational, all at once. I felt like I had come home: into my body, into my feelings, into a community of like minded people.
I was a little shy at first to volunteer, but after talking to Skywalker at great length about how the dance was run, I jumped in. I had never done an altar before, but I pushed through my fear and created my first altar. I found that I loved expressing myself creatively that way and made many more. Once I became a volunteer, I found that the dance itself, was now a small piece of the Gypsie Nation experience. I was eager on the morning of the dance to get up and get dressed and go be with the Gypsie Nation community. Even if I was silently sweeping, I felt a part of a whole and in service, which brought great joy. I also enjoyed coming together as a group after the dance to debrief, or the monthly meetings. Ultimately, the dance, itself, became the icing on the cake of being part of the Gypsie Nation community.
