Gypsie Nation was started on the Big Island of Hawai’i in January 2004.
The idea came from a series of visions and from an aspiration to offer non-dogmatic spiritual environments centered around community dance rituals. Our project is inspired by principles common to all traditional shamanic cultures. The first dance was held in the mountain town of Waimea, on the flank of the Mauna Kea volcano. Our intention for that first dance was to initiate a global culture that would help heal the rifts and wounds between all nations.
From January 2004 to May 2005, Gypsie Nation offered over 180 dance rituals in five communities around the Big Island of Hawai’i. In 2006, Gypsie Nation started dances in Seattle and Olympia (WA), Taos (NM) and Boulder (CO). In 2007, a new dance was started in Denver (CO).
Gypsie Nation is now being developed into a global organization with a purpose to help create effective healing dances, and support communities around the world with resources and training.
